We are the leading body for physicians in the UK and abroad. Membership of the RCP can cost as little as £105 (and is tax deductable). Membership entitles you to a range of benefits, including free subscriptions to key College publications and our online library and reduced prices for College conferences and overnight accommodation.

The College lobbies Government and other decision makers on your behalf. You also have the chance to play a part in College life by joining working parties and committees, attending events and other forums.

What we do for you

We provide leadership, support and advocacy for our members in a range of ways including:

Getting your voice heard

We consult you on the issues currently affecting you - including MMC, the Government’s health reform agenda and Lord Darzi’s Next Stage Review – through roadshows, regional visits and other forums.

We represent your views to decision-makers within Parliament, Whitehall and the European Parliament.

We respond to government consultations on clinical and policy issues

Helping you work effectively

We develop ground-breaking tools to help your professional development, such as online CPD and guidelines on revalidation

We co-ordinate events and training on the clinical and management issues that affect our Fellows and Members

Improving standards

Fellows and Members can get involved in working parties and others forums to develop RCP policy and guidance on key topics such as Acute Medicine.

We produce guidelines, audits and publications that improve standards of patient care

Why should I join?

At a time when doctors are facing change in almost every aspect of their working lives – training, clinical practice, assessment and revalidation - the RCP has a vital part to play in providing hospital doctors with the information and support they need.

College officers and Council members are working physicians, who contribute their time to ensure that the RCP’s policies and priorities reflect the reality of doctors working ‘at the coalface’.

How much does it cost to join?

Membership costs between and £105 and £495, depending on the category of membership.

RCP membership provides excellent value for money. For example, a doctor who has recently passed the MRCP(UK) exam can apply for Collegiate Membership costing just £140 a year (£115 for overseas MRCP(UK) holders), which is tax deductible and includes free recording of CPD credits (saving £105 every year).

Apply for membership

The College is its Fellows and Members; the RCP’s work draws upon the knowledge, skills and experiences of its Fellows and Members. Our strength and authority depend on our membership working with us so that we can all deal successfully with future challenges and opportunities.
