Valuing diversity and staff development

At the RCP, all of our employees work collectively and individually to promote a constructive and sensitive approach to others from a variety of backgrounds, where the work of all is valued and respected.

Diversity and inclusion

No two people are the same – we live in a diverse society. At work, understanding and embracing diversity enables us to create an inclusive environment that supports both the individual and organisation.

As a responsible business we are driving equality of opportunity and inclusion throughout all of our services at the RCP. All our employees undertake equality and diversity training when they join and ensure all of our practices are delivered as part of our wider diversity and inclusion strategy.

The RCP welcomes applications from all sections of society. We are committed to equal employment opportunities from those of all backgrounds and are committed to ensuring that staff are appointed, retained and promoted on the basis of merit.

Development

The RCP is committed to your learning and development. We know that equipping our people with the skills they need to be successful in their current roles, and throughout their careers, is vitally important. This is why the RCP will ensure that you have the opportunity to grow from day one, whichever area you choose to work in.

When you join the RCP, you’ll receive a tailored induction plan that will introduce you to our organisation and ensure that you have the full range of skills required to deliver on your potential. We will talk regularly about how you’re feeling in your work and the part you want to play as our organisation grows, providing training and support to help you to develop additional skills and experience along the way.

We’ll give you a range of valuable, personal and technical skills, together with quality coaching support, where you’ll be given the opportunity to have someone to bounce ideas off. From apprentice to senior manager, we will focus your learning and support you through our development frameworks.

Courses and training

A collaboration with a number of key training providers enables the RCP to offer staff an innovative and broad range of training and development opportunities, such as:

  • personal development courses
  • professional and technical development
  • IT development
  • leadership and management programmes
  • coaching and mentoring opportunities
  • project management
  • study leave
  • support towards further education requests.

We will give you the opportunity to make your mark and achieve your personal goals while making your contribution to help us attain our strategic objectives.

Staff recognition and awards

Recognising the creativity, endeavour, commitment and achievement of our staff is very important to us. We celebrate the outstanding work they do in a variety of ways.

Peer Recognition Awards

Our Peer Recognition Awards provide an opportunity to honour the achievements and commitment of our people. Staff nominate their colleagues and everyone shortlisted receives special commendation and recognition for their contributions to the RCP.

Long Service Awards

Staff members are also recognised for their services to the organisation with our annual Long Service Awards. We reward individuals with a gift, a certificate and a thank you for their continued commitment.
