RCP's statutory annual report and accounts for 2011

The RCP was financially strong in 2011 and our operations continue to grow for the future. The total income in 2011 was £32.9 million, £1.2 million higher than in the previous year. The main factors influencing this were: increases in the number of candidates sitting the MRCP(UK) and specialist examinations, particularly overseas; an expansion of the work of the National Clinical Guideline Centre; continued success in obtaining and retaining grant funding; and income from external bookings continuing to be robust.

Professor Linda Luxon, RCP treasurer, says in the treasurer's report: 'The RCP's position at the heart of medical education and standard-setting means that our services, expertise and products continue to be in high demand. This continues to give us some protection against the weakness in the general economy.'
