Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation Unit  

The main aim of the Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation Unit (CEEU) is to improve the quality of care delivered to patients in the National Health Service. The Unit does not undertake basic clinical research but concentrates on ways of ensuring that best practice and evidence-based approaches to care are widely disseminated and used for the benefit of patients.

Activities within the CEEU include:

  • the production of national clinical guidelines
  • the design of national comparative clinical audit tools to evaluate standards of organisation and delivery of clinical care
  • the co-ordination of national comparative clinical audit projects
  • the development of clinical outcome measures
