Overview
The Healthcare Associated Infections Working Group was set up by the RCP in 2007 as a response to the rise in healthcare-associated infection (HCAI).
Areas of work and projects
The Group’s key areas of work are:
- promoting best practice and knowledge for physicians and trainees
- ensuring that infection management is included in best practice for all physicians
- ensuring that knowledge around HCAI is part of training, CPD and appraisal activities organised by the RCP
- helping to encourage physicians to take a lead in the field of antibiotic prescribing and have a central role in infection management
- identifying and support basic and applied research
- providing advice on hospital-acquired infections.
