Medical Education Resource Centre 

 

 

The Medical Education Resource Centre at the Royal College of Physicians was established in 2002 and contains a comprehensive collection of print and multimedia medical education resources which aim to support the continuing professional development and lifelong learning needs of physicians. The core collections reflect the courses that are coordinated by the Education Department and are supplemented by a reference collection of medical textbooks and revision material of interest to individuals intending to sit the MRCP examinations.

The Resource Centre is located within the Jerwood building and is open 9:00–17:00 Monday–Friday (except Bank Holidays).

Facilities and services are open to:

  • Fellows, Members and Associate Members of the College
  • College Regional Advisers, Tutors, Associate Tutors and members of College committees
  • Doctors who are preparing for College examinations
  • Academics or researchers with a professional interest in medicine and medical education
  • Participants on courses organised by the College, eg Physicians as Educators
  • Members of the Patient Carer Network

Medical Masterclass

Comprising 12 printed modules, 60 interactive case studies on CD-ROM and a companion website, Medical Masterclass is a versatile study package that helps doctors to prepare for the MRCP(UK) examination and improve their medical skills and knowledge.

 

Library catalogue

The Resource Centre’s collections can be browsed through the College’s central online catalogue. By using the 'Advanced Search' option, you can restrict your search to the material that is available within the Centre.


Online resources

Visitors to the Resource Centre can make use of an extensive collection of Videos and CD-ROMs as well as having additional access to a wide selection of databases and full-text electronic journals.

CD-ROM teaching toolkits

The teaching toolkits produced by the College are comprehensive teaching resources for all those involved in training doctors. Incorporating lesson plans, printable materials and video clips in one CD-ROM, the toolkits provides all the materials needed to run either a comprehensive or condensed workshop. The toolkits will be an invaluable resource for clinical tutors, educational supervisors, clinical supervisors, programme directors and all those involved in training doctors in performance assessment; they are currently available via the College Publications Department.
