The College needs your help to ensure that the precious items held in the Heritage Centre can be made available for the physicians of today and tomorrow.

The treasures of the College are not only the shared memory of all past and present fellows and members, but part of our national and international heritage.

While we are working hard to ensure that all the collections are kept in the best possible manner, materials do deteriorate through age and repeated use.

It used to be traditional for a physician to give a gift to the College on becoming a fellow, often a book or a piece of silver. It is hoped that fellows and members today will instead Sponsor a Treasure -supporting the cost of restoring items from the library, archive and museum.

Donations

All donations are welcome and will be acknowledged in the College's newsletter.

Donors pledging over £100 will receive a certificate of sponsorship and those pledging over £500 will be entered in the Heritage Centre Benefactor's Book.

To make the gift even more special, a dedication statement of up to fifty words can be included on the certificate and in the Benefactor's Book.

Conservation

The department only uses accredited conservators to carry out conservation work on the College treasures. All materials and adhesives used will be archival quality and treatment will be completely reversible where possible.

We look forward to carrying out more important conservation projects on the College's collections in 2010.
