The Royal College of Physicians has several key areas of activity in Africa.

Postgraduate qualifications

The MRCP(UK) is a highly valued, internationally accepted qualification. Part 1 is offered in Ghana, Sudan and Zimbabwe. Part 2 is offered in Sudan, which will soon also be launching PACES (the practical exam).

Medical Specialty Training

UK specialty training is sought by many doctors in Africa. Although changes to UK immigration laws have made this process much more difficult, the RCP has access to Tier 5 visas for trainees to come to the UK for 2 years of clinical training. The personal links forged by training leading international physicians has positive long-term consequences for both countries.

West African College of Physicians

The RCP has been collaborating with the West African College of Physicians (WACP) since 2008. This wide-ranging partnership has already produced good results, and we are now looking to the next phase of our cooperation.
