The MRCP(UK) diploma is essential for all physicians who train in a medical specialty in the UK.
MRCP(UK) examinations
The three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom share a common membership examination in general medicine: the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom Diploma. Successful candidates who pass all three parts are eligible to apply for the award of the MRCP(UK) Diploma.
The MRCP(UK) examination is divided into Part 1 and Part 2 but has three separately assessed components:
- MRCP(UK) Part 1 examination
- MRCP(UK) Part 2 written examination
- MRCP(UK) Part 2 clinical examination (PACES)
Following completion of the MRCP(UK) examination, successful candidates are invited to attend an MRCP(UK) new members ceremony at the RCP.
Full details on the MRCP(UK) examination are available on the MRCP(UK) website:

Presentation of MRCP(UK) Diploma
Candidates who have been elected to membership can either obtain their MRCP(UK) diploma at the MRCP(UK) new members ceremony or by post.
Candidates should expect to receive their diploma within six weeks of being elected to membership. However, timescales may vary. Please allow 3-6 months for delivery of the diploma to addresses outside of the UK.
Delivery of MRCP(UK) Diploma
The RCP uses the 'signed for' service provided by Royal Mail for diplomas posted within the UK only. Diplomas destined for an address outside the UK are not tracked, therefore the item will be sent by normal post. Candidates are strongly advised to ensure their correspondence details are correct and up-to-date in their MRCP(UK) online account as this will help to avoid any loss or delay of the item.
Diplomates who require a replacement diploma are advised to submit a request to the email address below. A £35.00 charge will apply, unless the individual is a Fellow of any of the three Royal Colleges, in which case no charge will apply.
