Fundamental to the RCP's mission is to be relentless in our pursuit of improvements in healthcare.
Given current changes in the way that healthcare is delivered, the RCP argues that certain conditions need to be in place in order to provide the best care for patients. We believe that the government needs to support and invest in a sustainable expanding medical workforce that is properly resourced and trained. As will the principal driver of service improvement over the next few years, the RCP has established extensive work programmes that support this agenda.
We believe that professional networks could play a potentially valuable role in monitoring patient care and identifying risks, therefore improving patient safety, and we have been seeking to re-establish this valuable function. In order to improve the quality of information we use to judge clinical outcomes, we have produced national record-keeping standards, and are promoting their uptake.
