This project aims to facilitate faster implementation of NICE public health guidance relevant to the workplace by NHS trusts. The project is funded by the Department of Health and has two phases:

Phase one

HWDU held interviews with 22 trusts in England that have progressed in implementing the NICE guidance. The purpose of these
interviews was:

  • to gather detailed information of how NICE guidance has been implemented
  • to collect examples of good practice and case studies
  • to understand what barriers have been faced and how these have been overcome.

Phase two

HWDU facilitated tailored action planning workshops with 40 trusts in England to support their implementation of the NICE guidance. During the visits, the team used the knowledge and expertise gained during phase one to support trusts to review support for staff health and wellbeing, identify barriers and enablers, and create a bespoke action plan.

HWDU has produced a report that will be useful for all NHS trusts to support their implementation work. There is also a shorter briefing document containing recommendations for trust board members. These documents are downloadable from the links below.

Revitalise your staff's health and wellbeing

HWDU are able to offer workshops based on these project findings to support the development of evidence based, cohesive strategies that can lead to improved staff health and wellbeing. The flyer below contains further information on how these workshops can be tailored to suit your organisation.
