Publications

The Royal College of Physicians produces a wide variety of reports, clinical guidelines and books.

Many of these are based on the findings of RCP working parties on clinical and public health issues as well as how healthcare services are organised in the NHS.

We also publish reports and guidelines developed by our Clinical Standards Department on chronic conditions such as diabetes. These include commissions from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and concise guidelines developed in association with specialist societies. The key series comprise:

• NICE clinical guidelines on chronic diseases – developed by the National Collaborating Centre for Chronic Conditions 
• Concise guidance to good practice series for physicians and other healthcare professionals – developed by the Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation Unit (CEEU)
• NHS Plus guidelines on occupational health – developed by the Occupational Health Clinical Effectiveness Unit 

Other publications include guidance and standards for recording and managing clinical data developed by our Health Informatics Unit and audit reports from the CEEU.
