RCP parliamentary briefing ahead of report stage in the House of Lords of the Health and Social Care bill

The RCP briefing outlines our remaining concerns regarding the Health and Social Care Bill. The RCP is not for or against the reforms. We wish to work with government, parliamentarians and wider stakeholders to improve the legislation.  We are concerned that the reforms do not commit to adequate and necessary national planning of the medical workforce, nor is there independent quality assurance. The government must also state clearly that inappropriate competition will not be tolerated and clarify that integration will always trump competition.
