The principles of the quality improvement – improving quality, measuring quality and setting standards for quality – are embedded in all of the RCP’s work. The RCP’s Strategy for Quality sets out our approach to pursuing improvements in healthcare and the health of the population. The RCP also published a patient safety strategy in July 2013.

Key to improving quality is ensuring there are high standards of safety for all patients receiving medical treatment across the NHS.

All clinicians have a responsibility to do all they can to reduce the risk of patient harm and improving patient safety.  We must also do all we can to ensure the systems and processes that health professional work within facilitate the safest clinical practice.
