Executive director, communications, policy and research
Claire is executive director of the communications, policy and research (CP&R) directorate.
CP&R includes policy and campaigns, media and engagement, strategic communications, publishing, events and marketing and the archive, heritage library and museum. The directorate works on behalf of members with parliament, stakeholders and media, providing a voice for the RCP on its mission to shape the future of health and care. The directorate develops policy around the issues that matter most to the membership with a strong focus on the best health and care for all. It also supports the work of the academic vice president with a key objective being enabling and promoting patient-care enhancing research time for physicians throughout the NHS.
Claire has over 20 years’ senior experience in health-related and public sector communications – including previous to the RCP as a consultant providing interim media and transformation communications expertise to NHS trusts, health and care commissioners and membership body NHS Providers. Prior to that she was head of communications at world-famous St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, now Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
