Dr Dan Furmedge

Dan Furmedge has been a consultant physician in geriatric and internal medicine and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London since 2017 having completed undergraduate training at King’s College London and a Masters in Medical Education at University College London.

He is the current service lead for internal medicine, training programme director for internal medicine training in South London and honorary senior clinical lecturer at King’s College London.

He is experienced in undergraduate and postgraduate assessment. He is an MRCP PACES host, chair and international examiner and sits on the Scenario Editorial Committee and Clinical Examining Board. He is an examiner for the Diploma in Geriatric Medicine. His education interests lie in assessment, postgraduate medical training, appraisal, peer learning and inclusion. He has been RCP college tutor and trust medical lead for vulnerable adults.

He considers himself a champion of generalism, working across community, ambulatory and inpatient settings in both acute, general and geriatric medicine. He is a firm believer in generalism as a core skill needed in the NHS. He is active in postgraduate medical education and is a proud advocate for postgraduate doctors and for improving training in the UK, including enhancing non-standard training pathways.
