Special adviser on obesity

Professor Rachel Batterham is professor of obesity, diabetes and endocrinology at University College London Hospital.

Rachel established and leads the Bariatric Centre for Weight Management and Metabolic Surgery. She is also the obesity theme lead for the National Institute of Health Research Biomedical Research Centre.

In 1989, Rachel qualified in medicine at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School Imperial College. She then specialised in diabetes and endocrinology and developed a specialist interest in obesity.
