Professor Sir Tumani Corrah is Emeritus director of the Medical Research Unit in the Gambia at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

For forty years, he has pursued his passions of improving outcomes in patient care in challenging environments, researching diseases that impact the developing world disproportionately and building human capacity in health research in Africa.

He is the founder and president of the Africa Research Excellence Fund, a charity that provides support to talented emerging postdoctoral African health researchers, at the most vulnerable point in their careers, with the knowledge and soft skills to win funding for their research and to remain in Africa.
