The RCP has now moved into to its new northern home, RCP at The Spine in Liverpool. The culmination of a five-year project, the building will be our base for providing events, activities and services to our members in the north, and is the first time we have had a significant presence outside London.
RCP president Dr Andrew Goddard said:
‘RCP at The Spine will deliver what our members tell us they want the most – for the RCP to be educating, improving and influencing – with our state-of-the-art assessment centre and educational facilities. It will allow us to have a base for our health improvement work as we continue to set high standards in educating physicians to provide the best care for patients in the UK and across the world. Our major investment in RCP at The Spine shows that we want to get closer to our members in the north and demonstrates that we’re all about health and healthcare right across the UK today.’
Built in partnership with Liverpool City Council, the building will be opened in stages – the purpose-built assessment floor is already being used for exams, and the amazing new education spaces opening in July for our courses after a testing period in June.
The full opening will take place in September and will include the large members area with areas for working, networking and simply relaxing over a cup of coffee.
From September we will also be opening The Base café on the ground floor and The Axis restaurant on the top floor, part of our event spaces available for hire, with spectacular views over Liverpool and further beyond to Snowdonia in the west and the Pennines in the east.
