The Advisory Committee on Clinical Impact Awards (ACCIA) has made some important changes to the NCIA award scheme ahead of its 2023 round. Applicants will no longer be expected to obtain a ranking and citation from a Royal College as part of their submission.
The National Clinical Impact Awards (NCIA) for consultants in England and Wales are designed to recognise clinicians who lead the way in the provision and improvement of patient care, demonstrating national impact by going above and beyond their roles.
In previous years, applicants had the option to secure a ranking and citation from the RCP or other national nominating organisations to support their application. This is no longer the case for the 2023 round. RCP can signpost applicants to supporting resources but are not permitted to edit, review, proofread or critique applications.
Applications should be made directly to ACCIA using the NCIA portal.
The 2023 NCIA application round is now open - all applications must be submitted (including employer verification complete) by 17:00 Friday 5th May 2023.
For queries about the NCIA please contact ACCIA directly at accia@dhsc.gov.uk.
