Teale essay prize for trainees

The Trainees Committee of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is inviting submissions for the Teale essay prize for trainees.

The prize winner will receive a cheque for £200, reimbursement of delegate fees to Medicine 2020, and the winning entry may be published by the Royal College of Physicians of London. 

How to enter

To enter, please write an essay of 500–1,500 words in connection with the following:

The introduction of Physician Associates is an opportunity to improve physician training. Discuss.


  • Entrants should be trainees in one of the 30 specialties of the RCP as outlined by the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (not necessarily MRCP) at the time of writing.
  • The essay must not have been previously published.
  • Manuscripts exceeding 1,500 words will not be considered.
