Editor (Future Healthcare Journal)

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is seeking to appoint an editor for the Future Healthcare Journal.

This is an exciting time in the development of the journal, an established and increasingly accessed resource to physicians and associated healthcare professionals in the UK and beyond. In addition, opportunities are presented to optimise the new journal platform and realise the potential of future online publishing.

The editor will lead the work of the associate editorial team to invite peer review of and publish high-quality material. The editor will also work with the Corporate Communications and Publishing team at the RCP to shape the journal’s future editorial strategy, commission and review articles, and advise on the development of the journal.

The successful applicant will start in post with immediate effect, in the first quarter of 2020. The applicant should have a personal profile commensurate with this level of post (consultant level in the NHS, or equivalent for other healthcare professions, with strong leadership abilities), and it would be preferable if they also had experience in academic publishing.

The terms of reference for the role are available to download below. For further details, please contact Anton Emmanuel, medical director of publishing, via anton.emmanuel@rcplondon.ac.uk.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter to FHJ@rcplondon.ac.uk by 22 December 2019.

Interviews will be held in late January / early February 2020.
