The Royal College of Physicians' (RCP's) New Consultants Committee (NCC) is looking for new consultants to fill representative vacancies in the Central and NE London, North Wales, South Wales and North West England regions from 1 August 2017 to 31 July 2020.
The role
The NCC and its representatives aim to meet the interests and needs of doctors at an important stage in their career. It also gives new consultants an opportunity to feed into the development of RCP policy and to contribute to its work.
The committee is represented on a wide range of groups in the RCP – including Council and specialty committees – and provides inputs to important issues and projects, such as safe medical staffing and the Future Hospital Programme. The NCC meets four times a year.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must have been appointed to your first consultant’s post within the last 5 years and be an RCP London subscribing member. If you are not a member, information on joining can be found at RCP Join.
How to apply
If you are interested in representing any of these regions, please email NCC committee manager Geraldine Welham at geraldine.welham@rcplondon.ac.uk by 5pm on Thursday 15 June, 2017. Please note that if more than one eligible candidate comes forward, a ballot will be held in your region.
The NCC’s terms of reference are attached. Please ensure that you are able to take the requisite time away from your trust – see the attached guidance on time off for RCP duties – and note the information on the RCP’s principles and process for nominations.
The Royal College of Physicians welcomes and actively seeks to recruit people to its activities regardless of race, religion, ethnic origin, disability, age, gender and sexual orientation.
