Research and Academic Medicine Committee: vacancies for two senior academic clinicians

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) seeks applications from fellows to fill two vacancies for senior academic clinicians on the Research and Academic Medicine Committee (RAMC) from November 2018.

The RAMC aims to provide advice, information and assistance for academics and research-active clinicians at all levels and career stages and to reflect the importance of research to the NHS.

The RAMC is chaired by the RCP's academic vice president, Professor Cheng-Hock Toh, and meets three times a year. Fellows serve for 3 years.

About the committee

The RAMC deals with issues relating to:

  • UK academic strategy
  • research training and its interface with clinical postgraduate education
  • conduct of research by its fellowship
  • infrastructure of UK medical science.

As part of its work, the RAMC has held several successful workshops with its partner organisations and helps to inform the RCP’s approach to promoting research among its membership.

Together with representatives from RCP committees and faculties, membership includes:

  • Medical Research Council
  • Wellcome Trust
  • National Institute for Health Research
  • Academy of Medical Sciences
  • Association of Clinical Professors of Medicine
  • JRCPTB.
