Volunteer: Co-opted member of the NGC technical committee for Hypertension in adults

The National Guideline Centre (NGC) is looking to recruit a specialist trainee in clinical pharmacology or primary care to aid the in-house technical team in developing an updated guideline on Hypertension in adults.

The post-holder will be an active participant in guideline development, with involvement in the entire guideline production process. Tasks will include attendance at monthly guideline development meetings with experts from around the country, writing up of ‘linking evidence to recommendations’ narratives and offering clinical experience.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the area and as well as an understanding of the evidence-based guideline development process.

Commitment

The position will be for the length of the guideline’s development (approximately 18 months) and all reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. The post-holder will commit to an average of 0.33 days per week face-to-face or teleconference meetings, with additional time dedicated to email or telephone responses to queries.

You will need to incorporate the demands of the guideline development process into their work and on-call schedules. Where appropriate, trainees should arrange to use study leave to attend GC/technical team meetings.
