Doctor-patient communications skills courses - Mandalay

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is delivering two intensive 2-day communications skills courses in collaboration with the University of Medicine, Mandalay during the week beginning 25 September 2017.

These intensive courses will provide attendees with the opportunity to reflect on the importance on effective doctor-patient communication, before participating in a range of workshops on topics including breaking bad news and active listening.

Courses are highly interactive, with learning achieved through a combination of role play, observation and small group work.

Communications skills courses may be of particular interest to doctors preparing to take the MRCP(UK) PACES examination, as attendees will:

  • receive detailed verbal and written feedback on their communication skills
  • participate in a range of simulated communication and ethics scenarios, all using strict PACES timings
  • attend a variety of plenary sessions and practical demonstrations led by past examiners.

Which course should I attend?

All participants are encouraged to attend introductory sessions on Monday 25 September which will give an overview of what to expect during the subsequent communications skills courses.

Course 1 (Yangon participants): Tuesday 26 - Wednesday 27 September.

Course 2 (Mandalay participants): Thursday 28 - Friday 29 September.

The content on the two courses is identical, so please do not register for both.
