Update in medicine - York

Organised by the Royal College of Physicians' (RCP) Yorkshire regional office, this annual Update in Medicine features clinical presentations from leading experts, the Simms lecture, and an open forum chaired by Professor Jane Dacre, president of the RCP.

The Update in medicine provides high-quality education and professional development for consultant physicians, SAS doctors and trainees in all medical specialties. There will be an opportunity during the open forum session to raise issues directly with Professor Jane Dacre, as well as other college officers.

Following the conference, a complimentary drinks reception will be held for all delegates in celebration of the RCP’s 500th anniversary.

This year's programme will include:

  • what every doctor needs to know about genomics
  • improving survivorship following acute myocardial infarction: high resolution insights from national health records data
  • how to assess a patient with a cough
  • frailty: what it is, how to identify it, and what to do when you find it
  • anti-inflammatory therapies in atherosclerotic disease
  • open forum with RCP president and officers
  • Simms lecture: Overcoming the challenges of poor IT in hospitals
