RCP response to House of Lords Science and Technology Committee inquiry on future of UK life sciences

Produced by:

This inquiry investigated issues such as whether the government has the necessary structures in place to support the life sciences sector; how the NHS can use procurement to stimulate innovation in the life sciences; and the content of the new life sciences industrial strategy, when published.

Summary

The RCP believes that the life sciences strategy is a good step towards ensuring that the UK remains a world leader in medical research once the UK leaves the EU but the NHS must ensure that patient care remains at the heart of the Brexit negotiations to ensure that UK patients can continue to access the latest treatments.
