Eastern region the next stop for the RCP Charter Cycle

Physicians in the Eastern region will have the opportunity to sign the RCP500 Charter on Thursday 29 June as the RCP Charter Cycle continues its journey around the UK.

RCP registrar Dr Andrew 'Bod' Goddard will be at Bedford Hospital in the morning before cycling to the RCP Update in medicine event at the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre in Hinxton, Cambridgeshire.

You will be able to meet Dr Goddard and sign the charter at the following times:

  • 8.30–9.30am: Bedford Hospital, 'The Swannery' restaurant
  • 3.45pm: RCP Update in medicine, Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre, Hinxton.

Fellows and members who are unable to attend can still sign the RCP500 Charter online.

Why Bod is cycling 2,018 miles

With the RCP's 500th anniversary taking place in 2018, Dr Goddard is cycling 2,018 miles around the UK in order to meet physicians from as many acute NHS trusts as possible. He is carrying the RCP500 Charter with him for fellows and members to sign and so reiterate the core values amongst physicians which the RCP has upheld since 1518.

Throughout the journey, Dr Goddard will also be cycling in support of Physicians for Africa. This RCP fundraising project has a target of £100,000 and seeks to improve access to well-trained physicians in east, central and southern Africa.
