The Evan Bedford library of cardiology is a rich source of rare books relating to the heart, its diseases and their treatment. As part of the UK Medical Heritage Library some of the 19th century volumes are now available online.
Three lithotomy instruments used in bladder stone removal from the Prujean chest of surgical instruments in the RCP museum are on loan to the National Maritime Museum’s exhibition ‘Samuel Pepys: Plague, Fire, Revolution’.
The RCP holds the largest known collection of books from the library of John Dee (1527–1609). These were stolen from Dee in the 1580s by Nicholas Saunder, who left his own ownership marks on the books.
