The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and its caterer CH&Co have partnered with bio-bean, the world's largest recycler of spent coffee grounds, to transform its 3,500 kg of waste coffee grounds a year into sustainable bio-products.
There is growing evidence that respiratory problems among children may be exacerbated by indoor air pollution in homes, schools and nurseries, according to a joint report by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and the RCP.
Following the release of the UK government's 'Health impacts of all pollution – what do we know?', RCP president Professor Jane Dacre called its recommendation for health impacts of pollution to be included in all curricula for clinicians in training 'a notably progressive move'.
The RCP has joined European and global hospital and healthcare organisations in signing the ‘Healthcare Call to Action on Climate Change' ahead of the UN Climate Negotiations, taking place in November in Bonn, Germany.
