The Royal College of Physicians (RCP), along with seven other medical royal colleges and homeless charities, has called on the Government to urgently address the needs of homeless people treated in the NHS.

The RCP welcomes the NHS Long Term Plan's focus on changing models of working but stresses the need to increase medical school places to alleviate burnout rate among doctors. 

Measures to offer every smoker admitted to hospital help to quit, as recommended by the RCP in a 2018 report, will be introduced as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.

The RCP believes current NHS overseas visitor charging regulations are having a direct impact on individual health and have potential implications for public health.
