Nominations open for vice president for Wales

The RCP invites eligible fellows to nominate candidates for the 2019 RCP election of its vice president for Wales - to serve from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022.

As Dr Gareth Llewelyn nears the end of his successful term, RCP fellows working in Wales may nominate fellows working in Wales for the role of vice president for Wales.

Vice president for Wales

The vice president for Wales leads work to identify the key policy issues, priorities and challenges facing RCP fellows and members in order to influence change in the Welsh NHS, and develop links with the National Assembly for Wales and the Welsh Government. The role works across both London and Wales sites and a two-person job share is possible.

Once nominated candidates will be invited to submit election material, to assist Council in drawing up the ballot list. After considering nominations, Council will approve a list of candidates from those who have been nominated. The new vice president will be elected via a postal/online ballot that eligible fellows will be invited to vote in.

The role description and nomination form can be downloaded below and the elected candidate will shadow Dr Llewelyn and take up office on 1 January 2020. Nominees should ideally be able to attend a conference in Cardiff on Thursday 14 November where the result will be formally announced.

If you wish to discuss the role please contact Dr Gareth Llewelyn, demitting vice president: Gareth.Llewelyn@rcplondon.ac.uk or Lowri Jackson, head of policy and campaigns (Wales): Lowri.Jackson@rcplondon.ac.uk.
