The RCP has named Professor Ali Jawad, who currently represents the RCP globally as international medical director and Hans Sloane Fellow, as its new vice president (Global).
Discussing the appointment, Professor Jawad said:
I would like to thank the college for this great honour. It is a privilege to work with the RCP Global department and this is a great opportunity to recognise the work of the office staff, college officers and my predecessors who all work very hard to highlight the global dimension of the work of the RCP. I am excited to continue leading our work with our global partners to support physician training and improve patient care.
A statement from RCP Council said the decision had been made to reflect the 'increasing importance of our international members' and the commitment of the RCP to 'improving medical standards across the world'.
