RCP briefing on Sugar in Food and Drinks (Targets, Labelling and Advertising) Bill

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has produced a briefing in support of Geraint Davies MP’s Private Member’s Bill on Sugar in Food and Drinks (Targets, Labelling and Adverstising) ahead of it's second reading, scheduled for Friday 11 March in the House of Commons. The briefing outlines some key statistics on the prevalence of obesity in the UK, and the impact and financial cost of sugar in food and drink to the NHS.

It also highlights the RCP's supports for evidence-based action on sugar, including measures to protect consumers from the pressures of unhealthy food marketing and equipping people with the information needed to make healthier choices.

The full briefing is now available for download.
