RCP Charter Cycle: 2018 for 2018

During the next 16 months RCP registrar Dr Andrew 'Bod' Goddard will be cycling around England and Wales in order to visit as many acute NHS trusts as possible and invite RCP fellows and members to sign the RCP’s modern charter.

Bod will also be using the 2,018-mile journey to promote the RCP’s campaign #medicineisbrilliant, which is aimed at improving the working lives of physicians, as well as raising money for Physicians for Africa, a flagship project of the RCP which seeks to improve access to well-trained physicians in east, central and southern Africa.

The initial ride will start at 8am on 1 June 2017 from London's Grange St Paul’s Hotel, which is on the site of RCP founder Dr Thomas Linacre's home. Bod will then ride 50 miles to the Hilton Reading hotel to coincide with the RCP Update in medicine event taking place there.

Much of the RCP Charter Cycle: 2018 for 2018 journey will coincide with RCP regional updates to allow as many physicians as possible to sign the charter and meet Bod. During the 16-month journey there will be further opportunities for fellows and members elsewhere in the UK and abroad to sign the charter online.

Fellows and members are also invited to join him on local legs of the tour, which will end back at RCP London in Regent’s Park on 23 September 2018 – the day of the RCP's 500th anniversary. Journey details and opportunities to join and contribute will be updated as they are planned.
