This morning the government announced a £200m boost for winter care in the NHS.
Dr Sarah Clarke, president of the Royal College of Physicians, said:
"The NHS is already creaking at the seams as the busy winter season approaches. Doctors are doing the best they can in difficult conditions so any new money to help address waiting lists and get patients seen quicker is welcome. As more industrial action looms, alongside this the government must urgently address workforce concerns on pay and conditions."
