RCP presidents present new 500 Charter

On the day of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Royal College of Physicians, staff and wellwishers - headed by president Professor Dame Jane Dacre and president elect Dr Andrew Goddard - arrived at the college's HQ in Regents Park via bike and foot to witness the presentation of the new RCP's new 500 charter.

The RCP charter reaffirms the commitment made by physicians to provide the highest standards of patient care; train, develop and support doctors; act as leaders; promote good health and prevention of ill health.

Cycle

RCP president-elect Dr Andrew Goddard and colleagues arriving at the RCP on the final leg of his 2,018 mile charity Charter Cycle, which has taken in 48 hospitals in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Over 2,100 physicians have signed the new RCP500 Charter on its journey.

Walk

RCP deputy chief executive Clive Constable arrived at the RCP with fellow walkers having visited all the sites of the RCP’s previous homes on a commemorative walk. The RCP’s Grade I listed headquarters in Regent’s Park is its fifth home.
