The British Medical Association yesterday announced that NHS consultants in England had voted in favour of industrial action.
Dr Sarah Clarke, president of the Royal College of Physicians, said:
"Patients will be concerned to hear of more strike action on the horizon. The decision to strike is a difficult one - but it is yet another sign of the need for urgent action to tackle the workforce crisis. We know that doctors feel overworked and under-resourced to deliver the care they want to provide. A resolution must be found swiftly.”
