Charitable aims

As a registered charity, the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) uses charitable support to fund research, training and conserve our heritage collections - all in the aim of improving health. Legacies and donations from members and individuals provide an essential source of income.

Giving Health

To mark the Royal College of Physicians' (RCP's) upcoming quincentennial anniversary we have decided to raise funds for four vital projects under the banner Giving Health, to reflect our shared commitment to the medical profession:

Physicians for Africa

We are partnering with leading physicians in east, central and southern Africa to create a new professional training college. In these regions, the shortage of well trained doctors – as few as one per 100,000 people in Malawi – is causing daily suffering and needless loss of life. Over the next 18 months, with your help, we hope to fund 12 new training units in six countries where access to doctors is severely limited.

The Physicians’ Fund

We know that patients have better outcomes in research-active hospitals, and that a major barrier to research is a lack of funding. In creating the Physicians’ Fund, we will remove this obstacle for the brightest of the next generation of doctors by awarding grants to trainees and new consultants seeking to pursue innovation in medicine.

RCP North in Liverpool

Construction of our RCP Centre of Excellence in Liverpool is beginning soon, however, we are depending on your generosity to secure the final funding required to complete the project. This state-of-the-art facility for the education and examination of physicians will also pioneer advances in medical education – on behalf of our entire profession.

We wish to improve facilities for you, our fellows and members, in Regent’s Park. Our objectives includethe renovation of our exhibition space in order to display our medical heritage collection, as well as the creation of new, welcoming spaces for meeting and collaboration.

You can choose to make your gift to any of our fundraising priorities, or you can give us the flexibility to direct your donation to where it is most needed.
