This page provides a series of resources to support services who are participating in the NRAP asthma and COPD primary care audit.
Audit and data collection guidance for participating services
The primary care audit automatically extracts relevant READ and SNOMED codes from general practice computer systems. In order to ensure that all relevant activity is detected a large number of codes are extracted.
To support healthcare professionals and to ensure appropriate clinical activity is recognised and recorded we have developed a key set of codes that we recommend are used to populate consultation templates and should be used by clinical coders within your organisations.

Healthcare improvement (HI) support for primary care services
The All Wales ICST Platform offers a publicly available NRAP specific HI toolkit – a step-by-step guide through six HI projects, based on HI priorities for primary care.
Generic and asthma/COPD specific HI support is also available for everyone on the NRAP website. This includes:
- Recommendations for HI priorities
- Slide-sets highlighting key findings from clinical audit reports, to inform and support clinical teams to make improvements.
- ‘How to’ guides for the NRAP run charts
- Templates for driver diagrams, PDSA cycles and SMART aims.
For more information about NRAP’s QI strategy and activities, see the NRAP HI page.
