We want to make sure that people living with asthma and COPD receive the best possible care and have the best possible health. We work closely with patients to make sure our audit programme focuses on improvement targets in the areas most important to people living with asthma and COPD.
Our work with patients
NACAP have established two vibrant patient panels. The first, hosted by Asthma + Lung UK, represents adults with COPD and/or asthma who may also be carers. The second, hosted by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) represents children and young people with asthma, as well as parents and carers. The patient panels meet regularly online to share their priorities for respiratory care and discuss how they think NACAP can best educate and empower both patients with respiratory disease and those responsible for the care that they receive.
NACAP were delighted to win the Richard Driscoll Memorial Award 2021 for outstanding work in patient and public involvement (PPI).
Support for patients
NACAP work with patients to co-create resources to help people living with asthma and COPD understand our improvement work and know how to access the best possible care.
Information leaflets for children and young people
NACAP have worked collaboratively with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), in conjunction with the Young Ambassadors, to create a set of information leaflets aimed at giving children admitted to hospital with Asthma the correct information. The leaflets available are aimed at different age groups, 4-8 years old, 9-15 years old and young adults aged 16 and over.
