What we are doing
In the RCP's first major project in China, a team is working with private healthcare provider Rocky Medical Investments to deliver training on the provision of rehabilitation services.
The RCP is working with Rocky Medical Investments to deliver clinical training ahead of the opening of Carehab, a new rehabilitation hospital in Tianjin, China in 2016.
The role of the new facility will be to continue the rehabilitation of patients admitted to acute hospital services with conditions including stroke, head and spinal injury and those who have undergone elective or emergency joint replacement.
An RCP team, including associate international director for South Asia Dr Steve Jones and Joint Specialist Committee for Rehabilitation Medicine lead Ms Krystyna Walton, travelled to Tianjin in December 2015 to participate in a rehabilitation medicine conference organised by Carehab. The team also met with rehabilitation physicians at Tianjin General Hospital and Huanhu (neurological) Hospital.
The visit marked the first phase of the project, with further collaboration planned.
