The RCP is deeply committed to improving access to clinical research and supporting the integration of research into everyday care. The RCP has produced a strategy to develop, deliver and drive research in the NHS; seeking to address the barriers to equality of access.
The RCP seeks to be a facilitator in research collaboration to provide support for physicians and the sector. You can find out more about the work we do through collaborations and how to get involved below.
The RCP offers support for physicians by helping deliver a system that enables research. We do this by supporting job plans, sharing experiences of other physicians, and through schemes such as the flexible portfolio training initative.
Flexible portfolio training (FPT) is a new initiative within higher specialty training run by Health Education England and the Royal College of Physicians that protects 1 day a week (or 20% time equivalent) for professional development.
The RCP promotes public health through evidence-based policy work to tackle challenges posed by air pollution and climate change, alcohol, obesity and tobacco.
During 2015 the RCP worked with the West African College of Physicians (WACP) on a clinical training project aimed at reducing the rising burden of diabetes, hypertension and obesity in West Africa.
