The RCP is deeply committed to improving access to clinical research and supporting the integration of research into everyday care. The RCP has produced a strategy to develop, deliver and drive research in the NHS; seeking to address the barriers to equality of access.
The RCP seeks to be a facilitator in research collaboration to provide support for physicians and the sector. You can find out more about the work we do through collaborations and how to get involved below.
The RCP offers support for physicians by helping deliver a system that enables research. We do this by supporting job plans, sharing experiences of other physicians, and through schemes such as the flexible portfolio training initative.
Flexible portfolio training (FPT) is a new initiative within higher specialty training run by Health Education England and the Royal College of Physicians that protects 1 day a week (or 20% time equivalent) for professional development.
The work of the Young Adults and Adolescents Steering Group (YAASG) focuses on care and services for patients aged 10–25 years who are either presenting for the first time to adult services or transferring from children’s to adult services.
The aim of this project is to develop an initial standard for sharing information on events taking place as part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s 'Healthy Child Programme: Pregnancy and the First 5 Years of Life'.
the Young adults and adolescents transition project aims to improve the quality of care for young adults and adolescents with long-term and complex conditions as they transition from paediatric to adult services.
