Professor Ali Jawad

International medical director

Professor Jawad is a specialist in rheumatic and bone disease and is a consultant rheumatologist at the Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital. He is also honorary clinical professor at The William Harvey Research Institute, Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

Previously associate international director for the Middle East and North Africa, Professor Jawad has extensive experience of working in the field of postgraduate medical education and training. He is a clinical (PACES) examiner and external examiner of MB BS at University College, London and is the Foundation Training Programme director and International Development lead at the Royal London Hospital. Ali is also international vice chair at the British Society for Rheumatology.

His research interests are in osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. He has written three books and chapters in several medical textbooks. Professor Jawad regularly lectures and participates in conferences in the Middle East and North Africa and has strong links with the RCP’s members and fellows, as well as with the wider medical fraternity.
