Being the medical registrar on call is often (anecdotally) cited as the reason trainee doctors choose not to pursue a career in hospital medicine. The role brings increased responsibility and can be incredibly stressful. It is a position that is often feared but is incredibly important and a vital stepping stone in the career of a physician.
This conference aimed to prepare IMT3 and ST3 trainees for the transition into the medical registrar role. Topics included how to manage the acute medical take safely, when to call the consultant and the importance of registrar wellbeing, as well as focusing on specialty top-tips in the acute setting.
The programme was developed in collaboration with The Core, Wales and was free to attend for RCP subscribing members.
Live streaming took place on Thursday 8 July 2021.
