Celebrating our members' achievements: passing the MRCP(UK) exam

Some of our existing members visited RCP London on Wednesday 17 July to receive their MRCP(UK) diploma at the 'New members ceremony'.

Dr Asif Munaf

What does gaining your MRCP(UK) diploma mean to you?

Gaining my full MRCP(UK) diploma means the world as it meant I could welcome the birth of my first born without having to spend hours locked away studying or the stress of resits.

What are you looking forward to most at the upcoming New members ceremony'?

Seeing Regents Park and visiting the museum. Hopefully the weather stays nice!

How has the RCP supported you in gaining your MRCP(UK) diploma?

The RCP was flexible when it came to sitting my exam and very helpful over email and the phone when it came to queries about any of my examinations.

If you could give one piece of advice to trainees, who will soon be taking the MRCP(UK) exam, what would it be?

Take your exams early, preferably all by the end of your first year of core training. This will allow time for retakes and means that if you get offered a higher specialist training number then your place will not be jeopardised by not passing your exams.

Why do you value your RCP membership?

I value my membership as it is a real honour to be a part of a prestigious organisation respected the world over.

Apart from the ceremony, are you planning on doing anything else to celebrate this achievement?

Spend time with family out in London.

Note from the editor: Did you know that the ‘New members ceremony’ is the name given to the event that celebrates diplomates passing their MRCP(UK)? However, it doesn’t make the individual a subscribing RCP member. Find out more about what it means to be an RCP member.
