MRCP(UK) and other exams cancelled – new advice on trainee progression in 2020

Due to the UK government’s strict social distancing guidance advising all but essential travel, we are very sorry that there is a delay to the uploading of PACES results [from the 27th February onwards] to candidates’ MyMRCP online accounts. This is because the process requires Federation of the Royal College of Physicians of UK staff to physically scan results. The situation is under review and updates will be posted by MRCP(UK) here.

As a consequence of the ongoing global COVID-19 situation, the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK has taken the extremely difficult but necessary decision to cancel all MRCP(UK) examinations in the UK and internationally from Monday 16 March until September 2020. It has also issued new advice today on trainee progression in 2020.

The Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK was established to support the education and training of physicians. It is fully aware that at this current time the uncertainties about what will happen around exams and training are causing considerable anxiety, and is working to provide clear positions on all aspects between ourselves and the training systems in the UK. Trainee welfare is extremely important – this advice provides clarity at an uncertain time and will allow trainees to plan for the coming months. Given the rapidly changing nature of things, though, even this advice may need to change.
