RCP responds to GMC 'state of medical education and practice' report

The RCP has responded to the General Medical Council (GMC)’s annual report looking at the state of medical education and practice in the UK.

Commenting on the report, Andrew Goddard, president of the Royal College of Physicians, said:

“The impact of the pandemic on workloads and subsequent burnout back up everything our surveys of members have been telling us. The GMC is right to say we need to embed the positive changes to teamworking and other aspects of our practice that got us through 2020. But at every step we need to remember that we wouldn’t be here if we had more doctors, nurses, physicians associates and other clinicians. And without the extra time that more colleagues bring, making the sorts of long term changes the GMC says are needed will be a challenge.”
